







Dee Side Lodge donates £750 to Gorwellion Newydd
Dee Side Lodge No. 3801 donated £750 to buy an iPad helping members of Gorwellion Newydd to become more familiar with basic computer skills and internet safety.
Gorwellion Newydd is a caring co-operative based in Shotton. Open Monday to Thursday, the group are able to host up to ten people every day, offering a friendly welcome for all.
Amongst the various activities include cooking and basic computer skills. The group helps to build confidence, learn new skills, reduce social isolation and enable wider engagement in community activities.
Members of Dee Side Lodge visited Gorwellion Newydd to present a cheque for £750. Mark Wyness, Charity Steward, said “I would like to thank everyone here today for the welcome we have received. It is great to see the group in action and we are delighted to support such a worthy local charity.”
Deidre Burns, Treasurer, said “our activities create opportunities for positive feedback to boost individual confidence, giving motivation to progress and do even more. Combined with the humour and banter that lifts everyone’s mood, it makes Gorwellion a positive place to be. Thank you to Dee Side Lodge for their very generous support.”
