Yale Lodge No. 5636 CelebratesIts 50th Welsh Night

Yale Lodge, Wrexham, celebrated its 50th Welsh Night in the presence of 105 Brethren including the RW Provincial Grand Master, Ieuan Redvers Jones, and the Provincial team. The traditional Mochyn Du party was led by W. Bro. Les Chamberlain in Welsh and W. Bro. Reg Harvey in English, with the DC, W. Bro. Steve Kelly, providing the trumpet fanfares.

The pig’s head was presented to the WM, Bro Len Johnson by W. Bro. Trevor Jones of Pegasus Lodge. A selection of Welsh songs was performed by W. Bro. Steve Gardner, Dyfrdwy Lodge, accompanied by the Provincial Grand Organist, W. Bro. David Williams.

The raffle raised £365 for the TLC fund and, earlier in the Lodge Room, the W. Master presented the RW. Provincial Grand Master with a cheque for £2,017 towards to 2017 Festival.

Former fire officer W. Bro. Reg Harvey was given a good reception when, after a trumpet fanfare by Lodge DC, W. Bro. Steve Kelly, he marched smartly into the Festive Board for the ‘Eating the Leek’ ceremony. Wearing a Fire Officers Mess Kit, he presented leeks to the Senior Warden W. Bro. Steve Harvey, Junior Warden W. Bro. Roly Humphreys and WM Bro. Len Johnson who then proposed the toast to Dewi Sant.
