Donation From the Dyffryn Clwyd Group of Lodges and Chapters

W Bro Sydney Gaskin Jnr and W Bro Sydney Gaskin Snr, presented Jo, Todd and 3 year old Ava with cheques donated from the Dyffryn Clwyd Group of Lodges and Chapters, St. Asaph Lodge No. 8034, St. Melyd’s Lodge No. 3840, St. Kentigern’s Lodge No. 7772, Prestatyn Lodge No. 7020 and Clwyd Chapter No. 1674 totalling £860, towards Tree of Hope (Ava’s walking wish). They received the cheques with delight and thanked everyone for such a generous donation by all the Lodges and members.

Ava lives in Prestatyn and was born with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. This was caused by her premature birth and means her legs are very stiff which causes a lot of discomfort. She has no core strength to stand up and wears splints.

There is a life changing operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) that Ava could have in St Louis Children’s Hospital, USA. The SDR operation will permanently remove all the spasticity in her legs and help build muscle so that she can learn to walk. This operation is not funded by the NHS in the UK. £80,000 is needed for the operation, travel to USA and accommodation. So far just over £25,000 has been raised.
