North Wales Freemasons Donate £1000 to Clwyd Special Riding Centre at Llanfynydd

North Wales Freemasons recently visited Clwyd Special Riding Centre at Llanfynydd near Wrexham to present four cheques totally £1000 on behalf of their four respective Lodges and Chapters.

They were warmly welcomed by the Trustees and staff who work tirelessly to help both children and adults with difficulties, by giving therapy and an opportunity to ride one of the numerous horses and ponies at the Centre including a lifelike full-sized electronic simulator horse. A large interactive television screen adds realism to the simulator by replicating various riding conditions and terrains. Terry Rowe of the Plas Teg Chapter No. 6898 kindly volunteered to mount the simulator to demonstrate its versatility by displaying his very capable riding talents.

The cost of the simulator was a staggering £50,000 but it gives severely disabled people a chance to experience the sensation of riding a horse under expert guidance.

The cheques from the following Lodges were presented to Mrs. Kath Hodgkinson, who accepted them with grateful thanks on behalf of the Centre, by WBro. Norman E. Jones.

  • St Mabon Lodge No. 919
  • Berwyn Lodge No. 7361
  • Plas Teg Chapter No. 6898
  • St Deiniol Rose Croix Chapter No. 907

The Centre is a real eye-opener and testament to a wonderful organisation that helps those less fortunate than ourselves.
