Members of Wepre Lodge No. 6055,Take Part in Charity Walkin Aid of CHICS

Finland, a land of Islands, forests and Santa, and it was to here that 3 members of Wepre Lodge No. 6055, flew on their annual walk to raise much-needed funds for their chosen charity, CHICS (CHILDRENS CANCER SUPPORT GROUP).

Vaasa is a small town 240 miles south of the Arctic Circle and this was where W.Bro’s David Kinnair, Dave Thomas and Ian Griffin completed the 3 days, 22km per day route. This is the 15th of 18 in the European walking association calendar that they have taken part in. This is their report:

Day 1 started at noon, from the Randle Centre in Vaasa town centre. We walked through the Town and then to the coast and suburbs before walking back through thickly wooded areas and then back to the Randle Centre. The weather was kind throughout the walk.

Day 2 began early. Also starting at the Randle Centre, we walked through the Town and then to the coast before walking back through forest areas where we all got attacked by mosquitoes, once again finishing at the Randle Centre.

Day 3 began even earlier at the Randle Centre and was the best of all for scenery. We all walked along the coast and through some very old villages with some amazing views.

All 3 participants completed the 3 days tired but in good spirits and it is hoped that through kind donations and sponsorship they can raise over £500.

Their sincere thanks go to everyone for their continued support.
